(OKLAHOMA, CITY) – Oklahoma Department of Public Safety Officials announce thegrand opening of the new Troop K Headquarters in Perry. A ribbon cuttingceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at the newTroop K Headquarters located at 2505 Highway 77 in Perry, Oklahoma. DPSCommissioner Michael C. Thompson, Assistant Commissioner Gerald Davidsonand Chief of Patrol Colonel Rick Adams will be among those in attendance aswell numerous state and local dignitaries.

“We are very excited about this new headquarters. This building is morethan just brick and mortar, it is a tangible example of the Patrol’scommitment to the people who live and work in this part of Oklahoma. Thepublic and media are very welcome to be a part of the renewed commitment toNoble County and the surrounding counties and communities,” said DPSCommissioner Michael C. Thompson.

OHP personnel assigned to Troop K have built and maintained a long-standingcooperative relationship with the people living and working in Kay, Noble,Osage, Pawnee and Payne Counties. Up until a restructuring in 1952, Loganand Creek Counties were also considered part of Troop K. Originallyheadquartered in Perry, Troop K was as one of four districts drawn up bythe first Commissioner of Public Safety Bud Gentry. In 1947, DPS moved theheadquarters to Pawnee where it remained until 2007 when it relocated to aleased facility until the new building was completed in July of 2014.
