The downtown Cushing Main Street program will add a community Christmas tree lighting to Old Fashioned Christmas on Dec. 4th at Centennial Park.

Local residents are invited to bring an ornament and help decorate the tree on Thursday evening from 4-5:30. At 5:30 the tree will be lit and a brief dedication made.

During Old Fashioned Christmas open house, ‘Kids Town’ will again be presented at the Lion’s Den at 124 W. Broadway. This is a shopping opportunity for children only, specially designed for youthful budgets. No item will be more than $10 with most falling in the $1-$3 range. Children will be given personal guided assistance with their choices and their purchases will be bagged. This method allows them to shop for mom and dad or brother and sister in relative secrecy. Downtown merchants set up shop at Kids Town with special merchandise they’ve collected throughout the year specifically for this occasion. Typically two to three hundred children visit Kids Town each year.

US Martial Arts Training Center will again host Santa Claus who will spend time visiting with children and hearing their Christmas wishes. This is the training center’s first year at this new location at Moses and Cleveland. Owners Billy and Jennifer Adkisson have made special arrangements with Santa, an old family friend to come visit Cushing for this special occasion.

Carriage rides will run from 5pm-8pm in front Bank of Cushing at 224 E. Broadway.
