(Cushing) – Cushing’s Downtown Mainstreet Organization has been notified that the Piccadilly Auction fund raiser was named as a ‘Top Three Finalist’ in the annual state Main Street awards. The ultimate winner will be announced at the annual awards banquet slated for April 29th at the Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Downtown Cushing submitted 10 nominations this year. The Piccadilly Auction, a fund raiser for the organization, was submitted in the Best Fundraising category and joins five other communities in a tie for ‘Top Three’. Those other five communities and their respective events are : Ada-Charmed by CHOCOLATE Festival, Hobart-Coins Around the Courthouse, Newkirk-Charlie Adams Day, Perry-Perry Planner,Talihina-Main Street Street Carnival.

Over 200 nominations were submitted in this highly competitive annual event. The 21 competitive categories include: Best New Business, Best Adaptive Reuse, Best Façade Renovation, Best Volunteer Recruitment program and others. Main Street communities reach from Guymon to Idabel and Broken Bow, Miami to Altus, Newkirk to Ardmore. There are 43 Main Street communities in all.

The annual award banquet is a means of celebrating monumental achievements in community revitalization.

The Main Street approach is a locally funded effort at revitalizing traditional commercial districts.

Downtown Cushing’s second Piccadilly Auction has been tentatively set for April 26.
