Don Mackey was born in Pampa, TX. on February 27, 1935 to the late Roy E. and Bonnie (Hodges) Mackey. Don graduated from Ardmore High School in 1953 and later attended OSU and graduated with a degree in Engineering in 1957. After college Don joined the U.S. Navy and became a diver for the Navy. After the Navy, Don went to work for Shell Pipeline. Don was with the Payne Co. Sheriff’s Department for 33 yrs. He never met a stranger.
Don later moved to Cushing and married Carolyn Brassfield Wilson on June 9th 1985.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Mackey of the home, one son: Jerry Mackey and wife Tina of Cushing, three daughters: LaDonna Mackey and partner Mark Miller of Cushing, Terri O’bryant and husband Rick of Cushing, Jana Cain and partner Randy Thompson of Cushing, grandchildren: Cody and Colby Judd, Miranda Magnus, Camran Retherford, Keenan and Keifer Mackey, Leah Storm and Samantha Hoover, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Don is preceded in death by one daughter Tracy Mackey and his parents Ray and Bonnie Mackey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing. Burial will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery Cushing, OK.
