Dixie Delane McElroy, a Cushing resident since 1995, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, in Cushing at the age of 76 years.

    The daughter of the late Albert Alexander Simmons and Susan Lucinda Keck Simmons, Dixie was born on November 7, 1937, in Paris, Arkansas.  She was raised in Arkansas and graduated from Omaha Tech in 1955.  She had worked as a realtor for over 22 years prior to moving to Cushing.  At this time she bought some rent houses and had been taking care of rent houses and her son Brad since that time.

    She enjoyed traveling, camping, waterskiing, square dancing and going to Branson.  Going to Branson was an annual event that she has done since 1960.

    She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her two sons, Brad Adams of the home and David Pittser of Owasso, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Shanna Jo, Jessica Lynn, Chelsea Jordan, Samuel, Davee and Royce; her great-grandchildren, Felix, Eisley, Autumn and Kaibree, and other relatives and friends, including a special friend of over 25 years Lupe’ Morris and close friends, Tabitha McCutcheon and Keira Pratt.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter Sonya Percell; one brother Harold Simmons and two sisters, Lois Coreen Ellington and Mae Anderson.

    Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Steve Holley officiating.

    Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

    The family will greet friends on Wednesday morning, May 7, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.

    Memorial contributions may be made to any of her five favorite charities; the Cushing Food Bank, Feed The Children, Oklahoma Special Olympics, the Salvation Army, or to the Wounded Soldiers, in her memory.
