The Cushing Lions Club was honored to welcome District Governor Frank Davis of Guthrie at their new member installation on Tuesday.


After President Tom Cummings welcomed new members along with their sponsors, they were installed by Lion John Forsyth.  The local club welcomes six new members, three who were installed Tuesday.  Those installed were Jim Pickard, Colin Campbell and Lynda Cummings with their sponsors Gerald Jolley, Sharon Hudgins-Rozell and Tom Cummings.


Governor Davis praised the Cushing Lions Club on their enthusiasm, dedication and continuing service for 82 years.  Speaking of Lions Clubs International, Governor Davis spoke of the 30 million people world-wide who have had their sight improved, maintained or who recovered lost sight because of the club’s vision projects.  Lions Club International has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in the past for their focus on world peace.  Lions Clubs are in over 200 countries around the world and is the fastest growing service club on earth.


Among other projects in which the Lions Club members are involved are clean water in under-developed countries, providing ongoing nourishment for 60,000 hungry children and building playgrounds for handicapped children.
