Dennis was born on January 16, 1961 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to James Franklin and Sylvia Irene (Denny) Kennedy. Dennis grew up and graduated from Oilton High School with the class of 1979. Shortly after graduating from high school, Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Starrett on September 15, 1979, in Oilton, OK. To this union Kelly Dawn, John Keith, Tyler Craig, and Aaron Kyle were born. Dennis worked in the oilfield for a few years after high school, until August 1985 when he began working for Mercury Marine in Stillwater. Just last summer he was honored for his 26 years of service with the company. Dennis was a member of the Oilton City Council for 20 years, and he took pride in his town. He truly enjoyed helping out in way he could to improve the city of Oilton. Whether it be mowing grass somewhere in town, or painting fence at the ball fields, he was always helping someone out in some way. Dennis was an avid OU Sooner football fan, and he hated to see his Sooners lose. While all these things meant a lot to him, his true pride and joy was his family. He was a true family man, and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed watching his grandkids plays sports and participate in different activities. He loved loading the whole family up and taking everyone on vacation. He especially loved taking trips to the ocean. Dennis was one of a kind, and he will be greatly missed by so many.
