(Oklahoma City, Okla) – District 33 State Representative Lee Denney has won her re-election bid by drawing no opponenet during the three day filing period that ended Wednesday.  Denney filed her declaration of candidacy with the State Election Board in Oklahoma CityMonday morning.   Denney (R-Cushing)  was one of a handful of state lawmakers that drew no opposition and is thus re-elected.

Denney told KUSH that she was extremely grateful to the voters of District 33, and looked forward to returning to the State Capitol.

“I will say that with the budget situation its been very difficult this past session.  To use the phrase the Speaker Benge has used and that is it’s been ugly and uglier.  The recession was late in getting to Oklahoma,  and I think we’re beginning to see things turn around, but we have to make some difficult decisions.  We’ve ended up shrinking state government, and that’s not all bad, but we haven’t been able to fund some things at the level we’d like.”

Prior to being elected to the State House,  Denney served three terms as a member of the Cushing Board of Commissioners,  including a stint as Board Chair, or Mayor.
