(Stillwater, Okla)  – Both incumbent County Commission candidates have won their Republican Primaries today,  and Payne County Voters have voted to do away with personal property taxes.

District 1 County Commissioner Bill Deering was challenged by county employee Zach Cavett.  Deering defeated Cavett with nearly 60 per cent of the total ballots cast.  Deering will face Democratic Candidate Bobby Farley in November.

The District 3 County Commission primary was much closer.  The incumbent, Jim Arthur defeated challenger Kent Bradley by 77 votes out of more than two thousand cast,  51.8 per cent of the total.

James Cowan has won the Payne County Assessors seat, as there is no Democratic Candidate.  Cowan defeated Jimmy Ames .

And County voters have approved the County Question on personal property taxes.
