(Cushing, Okla.) Deep Rock third graders witnessed first hand just how far lava can flow from a volcanic eruption. Mrs. Mastel’s class worked in groups to research the layers of the earth, report findings, and to form their own volcanoes as related to the earth and its parts. The culminating event was the eruptions of those volcanoes!
Brianna Piatt, Hannah Johnson, and Heaven Van Brunt (Photo:1) display the results of their replica of the earth and its volcanic features.
It’s big, and bad, and ready to explode. What is it? It is a giant volcano designed by Deep Rock third graders Nubia Sanchez, Jacob Spears, and Emma Allen (Photo 2).
Volcanoes galore! Third graders experienced writing, science, language arts, reading, and math all in one unit – the study of the earth and its natural volcanic elements. It was an EXPLOSION of learning!
