David Edward Griffin, age 61 of Cushing, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at his home in Cushing. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Faith Baptist Church in Cushing. Pastor C.L. Hall will officiate.
David was born on December 3, 1952 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to the late Willie Edward and Burnice (Kelley) Griffin. He grew up and attended school in Garber. David married the love of his life Sandra Poindexter on October 4, 1971 in Enid, Ok. They lived in Enid until 1975, the Waukomis for ten years before moving to Cushing in 1989. David worked in the Oilfield on a work over and swab unit most of his life before suffering a debilitating injury. To support his family, David began making wood crafts out of the family home and was a stay at home Dad to their 6 children. David was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending Southern Gospel Concerts and most of all, spending time with his family.
David is survived by his wife Sandy of the home, son Jimmy Wilson and wife Rhonda of Cushing, daughters Jeanne Shadaram and husband Mark of LeHigh Acres, Fl., Amanda Ragan and husband Gerald of Cushing, Susan Adamson and husband David of Cushing, Billie McClendon and husband Cody of Cushing, sisters Billie Pearce of Cushing and Norma Carnett of Cushing, grandchildren Jessica, David, Sandra, Kristian, Aron, Siroos, Koroush, Sara, Laila, Sierra, Isabel, Jeffery, Danielle, Phillip, Kathryn, Griffin, Abigail, Zoe, Alyxander, Jacob, great-grandchildren, Cadence Noushafareen, Yasmina and Sienna.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Capdeville.
