Dana Murphy has announced she is running as a Republican candidate to be Oklahoma’s next Lieutenant Governor.

 
Dana currently serves as Chairman of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, where she was first elected in 2008 and was re-elected to her third term in 2016. Prior to her time in public office, Dana owned and operated a private law firm focused on oil and gas title and regulatory practice, and previously served as an administrative law judge for the Commission. Dana also has more than two decades of experience in the petroleum industry as a geologist.

 
Dana is a member of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Advisory Council; a member of the Regional State Committee of the Southwest Power Pool; and a member of the Financial Research Institute advisory board. Dana serves on the Oklahoma Water Resources Research Institute advisory board and on the Salvation Army’s Central Oklahoma Area Command advisory board. In 2007, she was recognized by Energy Advocates as an outstanding woman in energy. Dana currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Church of the Servant Methodist Church, and remains active in her family farm and ranch in western Oklahoma.

 
Dana is a fifth generation Oklahoman who has lived and worked in both rural and urban areas of the state. She holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from Oklahoma State University and a law degree cum laude from Oklahoma City University.
