Dale Mumford, age 82 of Drumright, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Claremore Veterans Center, Claremore, Oklahoma. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-8 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton.

Dale was born on July 29, 1931 in Jennings, Ok to the late Joseph Ray and Lola Dell (Jacobs) Mumford. He grew up and attended school in Jennings, graduating with the Class of 1949. After high school, Dale attended college at Wilberton, where he studied History and Foreign Language. He played baseball in high school and college. The St. Louis Browns held the pro-baseball camp where they chose Dale to go pro for their team, he made the team. He was very proud of this accomplishment. Dale married the love of his life Peggy Alsip on June 9, 1956 in Hallett, Oklahoma. Dale entered the U.S. Marine Corps. and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a drill sergeant while in the marine corps.. Dale was self-employed and worked in the Oilfield most of his life. He enjoyed watching birds, planting trees, gardening, and the outdoors. Dale was an avid reader. He loved spending time with his family they were his number of priority.
Dale is survived by his children Rebecca Clement and husband David of Ashdown, Arkansas, Larry Mumford of Drumright, Leah Ross and husband Larry of Jennings, and Shana Gooch and husband Brian of Stroud, brother Larry Joe Mumford of Irving, Tx., grandchildren Michael Clement and wife Kendra, Corrie Easley and husband Jonathan, Kimberly McCutcheon and husband Stephen, Amy Lester and husband Frank, Joseph Mumford, Sarah Garcia, Eric Ross and wife Ruby, Robert Ross and wife Jessika, Todd Ross and wife Ashley, Dale McDonald, Heath McDonald, Morgan McDonald, Marc Gooch and Bailie Gooch, and twenty three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Peggy.
