(Stillwater) — A Cushing woman has admitted stealing a former co-worker’s prescription medication while she was visiting at her residence in Cushing.
Jennifer Anne Kimmel, 28, pleaded guilty Friday to larceny of the painkilling drug, hydrocodone, on Sept. 23, 2008.
Kimmel remains free on $5,000 bond pending her sentencing on June 8 before District Judge Donald Worthington.
Kimmel has a plea bargain for two years’ probation, community service, fines and assessments, according to court documents filed Friday.
Cushing Police Officer Adam Harp wrote in an affidavit that he was sent about 7 p.m. Sept. 24, 2008, on a report of an unwanted female at a local residence.
The reporting person, Audrey Peals, said that the previous day, Kimmel came to her house at about 9:30 a.m., the affidavit said. She said that she used to work with Kimmel about 10 years ago, the affidavit said.
“Peals said that she invited Kimmel into her house and they shared coffee together and talked.
“Peals said that while Kimmel was at her house, she went to the bathroom about four times and ran the water for long periods of time. Peals said that she later became suspicious because she keeps her prescription medication in the bathroom,” the affidavit said.
Peals said that later that day, she located an empty bottle of hydrocodone in her medicine chest, the affidavit said. “Peals said that she thinks that some of her other medication might have been taken, but does not know for sure,” the affidavit said.
After the officer spoke to Peals, he spoke to Kimmel, who initially denied taking any prescription medication, the affidavit said.
“Kimmel later admitted to taking four hydrocodone from her prescription bottle,” the affidavit said.
“Kimmel said that the cabinet in the bathroom was open and she took the four pills because her back hurt,” the affidavit said.
“I asked Kimmel if she is addicted to hydrocodone and she said no,” the affidavit said.
“Kimmel said that there were only four pills left and that she put the empty bottle back into the cabinet,” the affidavit said.
“Kimmel said that she consumed the four pills while at the house,” the affidavit said.
“I asked Kimmel if she took any other prescription medication, and she said no,” the affidavit said.
“I asked Kimmel if she came back today with the intention of taking more prescription medication from Peals, and she said no,” the affidavit said.
Larceny of a controlled drug carries a maximum penalty of a 10-year prison term and a $10,000 fine on conviction, court records show.
