(Stillwater, Okla.) – A Cushing woman accused of using a co-worker’s stolen bank card at Braum’s, where both were employed, has been ordered to appear in court on April 17 on a three-count felony charge of unauthorized use of a stolen credit or debit card totaling $70.

Kennetha Cox, 40, who was freed on $5,000 bond following her arrest on March 5, could receive as much as a nine-year prison term and a $9,000 fine if convicted, according to court documents filed earlier this month.

An Oilton woman came to the Cushing police station on Jan. 25 to file a report on stolen credit cards, court records show.

The woman said that the previous day while she was working at Braum’s in Cushing, “she noticed another employee, Kennetha Cox, doing transactions for herself,” Cushing Police Officer Aaron Sherman alleged in an affidavit for an arrest warrant.

The woman said “she noticed multiple receipts in Kennetha’s hand,” the affidavit alleged.

The woman said that when her own shift was over, she noticed her purse had been gone through and three credit cards were missing, the affidavit said.

The woman said “there were five pending charges on her account…one $30 transaction, three $20 transactions, and a $2.01 transaction on two of her cards,” the affidavit alleged.

The store manager at Braum’s, who provided video footage to the officer, indicated Cox had purchased gift cards at 1 p.m., 1:03 p.m., 1:24 p.m. and 1:52 p.m., the affidavit alleged.

“While watching the video footage, I observed Kennetha purchasing multiple gift cards. While Kennetha is purchasing gift cards, Kenneth had to stop momentarily to check out a customer,” the officer wrote in his affidavit.

The following day when Cox was interviewed at the Cushing police station, “Kennetha told me she only remembered activating one gift card which was for a customer who also purchased additional groceries,” the officer wrote in his affidavit.
