(Stillwater, Okla.) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Cushing woman accused of gaining access to another woman’s PayPal account and removing $160.10 from it, court records show.
Jennifer Lynn Soloman, 31, has not yet appeared in court on the felony charge of violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, a felony punishable by as much as a 10-year prison term and a $100,000 fine on conviction.
Cushing Police Officer Taylor Ballard was sent 8:28 p.m. on Aug 28 to the lobby of the police station to talk to the alleged victim, according to an affidavit filed in court records last week with the charge.
The alleged victim explained that “a few months before, she had let Jennifer Solomon use her cell phone one night when she was in a fight with her girlfriend,” the affidavit said.
The alleged victim said “she was unaware how long Solomon had her phone because she went to sleep and Solomon had left the phone on her porch that night,” the affidavit said.
“She also advised that on a separate occasion, Solomon had helped her set up a PayPal account,” the affidavit said.
The alleged victim said that on Aug. 28 “she loaded some money onto the PayPal account for the first time since creating the account,” the affidavit said.
“Later in the day she received notifications from PayPal that she had sent Solomon $105.00 and $50.00, which after fees come to $51.75 and $108.35,” the affidavit alleged.
The alleged victim said “she did not intend to send money to Solomon and that she believes that Solomon had gained access to her PayPal account when she let her use her phone,” the affidavit said.
“She has located multiple Facebook accounts on her phone in Solomon’s name as well,” the affidavit alleged.
The alleged victim “sent me screenshots of the PayPal transfers and her bank statement showing the transfers,” the Cushing officer wrote in the affidavit.
