(Cushing, Okla.) The Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo will kick off its 26th year this Friday and Saturday night. at the Cushing Rodeo Arena located on N. Linwood. Along with returning announcer Justin McKee and the ever-popular Canadian Valley Rangerettes is this year’s specialty act – the All American Cowgirl Chicks!
The All American Cowgirl Chicks are well known to many, not only because of their performances at rodeos across the country, but because of their television show: The All American Cowgirl Chicks “Never Quit Series,” seen Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday on RFDTV.
Founder Trish Lynn told KUSH the group was formed over 20 years ago after she decided to take her singing career to a different level – trick riding. Lynn said she had often been booked at rodeos with trick rider/roper legend J. W. Stoker. “I couldn’t get enough of his amazing commitment to the sport,” Lynn said. Lynn credits Stoker as being a mentor to her and her “Chicks.”
“I am very grateful to J. W. for spending a lot of his time with us trying to make us the best we can be,” she continued. “My favorite part is watching the 86 year old phenomenon legendary cowboy smile and tear up when the girls perform…it gives me a great feeling that we are carrying something on that he dedicated his life to and we can be a part of.”
Each night, the All American Cowgirl Chicks will no doubt delight and amaze fans with their numerous talents at this year’s rodeo.
There will be pre-shows each night at 7:30 p.m. with Right Path Riding Academy on Friday and the Wells Fargo Stagecoach on Saturday. Rodeo starts at 8 p.m.
Events include: Bareback Riding, Steer Roping, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie Down Roping, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Boot Race and Bull Riding. The Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo Queen for 2014 will be announced on Saturday night, along with this year’s Rodeo Princess. This year’s contestants are Heather Taylor, Karson Fowler and Peyton Wood. Abby Jones is the 2013 Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo Queen.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 918-225-2010 or 918-225-2012 for just $10 or at the gate for $12. Children 5 and under get in free.
