(Cushing, Okla.) – Wednesday morning the Cushing Police Department and Spirit Bank hosted “Responsible Beverage Service and Sales” training in the community room at Spirit Bank. The free training was being offered in partnership with the Oklahoma Able Commission, Oklahoma Prevention Policy Alliance, and PaNOK of Stillwater. Instructing and representing PaNOK this morning were Ernie Tye and Bonnie Kaiser. Representing the ABLE Commission was Sr. Agent Erik Smoot.
The training, which is specifically designed for employees, managers, and owners of establishments holding alcohol or low-point beer licenses, was attended by 19 people this morning. “I was very pleased with the turnout today,” Erik Smoot, a Sr. Agent with the ABLE Commission, said. “It’s pleasing to know the business community in Cushing is working to be responsible in this part of Oklahoma.”
The goal of today’s training was to ensure that expectations, liabilities and legal responsibilities were communicated to all licensees and their employees. Attendees received an in-depth training manual and a mini LED flashlight to check identifications for authenticity.
Cushing businesses represented this morning included: Maveric Mini-Mart., Cushing Country Club, L & N Liquor, Kum-N-Go, and Escott’s Foods.
“We appreciate the partnership with PaNOK and the Able Commission,” Chief Terry Brannon said. “We came together for the betterment of our community as a whole, and in the end, when we are all more responsible together, we are a safer community,” he said. “I cannot thank the businesses represented enough for making the sacrifice to send employees,” Brannon said. “I appreciate Denny Bond and the staff at Spirit Bank for hosting us this morning. They are great community partners.”
