(Cushing, Okla.)  Cushing Chamber of Commerce presented certificates of excellence to the Cushing Police Department, to the Dietary Department and to the Security Department of Cushing Regional Hospital.  Each certificate was given to recognize service that went over and above their job descriptions.

The Cushing Regional Hospital Foundation had planned a fund raising cruise in January.  While making plans, arrangements were made with Chief Terry Brannon of the Cushing Police Department and the CRH Security Staff.  While the cruisers were gone, the Cushing Police Department and the CRH Security were planning on making extra security runs in order to protect the cruiser’s vehicles.

On the early morning of January 15, the cruisers were arriving, preparing for departure.  The bus was coming from Oklahoma City and stopped at Guthrie to pick up 5 passengers and then in Perkins to pick an additional 6 passengers.  When he arrived in Cushing, he turn down the wrong street and ended up in a ditch hitting “high center.” The Police Department was immediately dispatched.  They took over the situation and began taking care of the passengers that were on board.  They kept the scene “light-hearted” in order to reduce stress.  On board was an elderly lady. They took extra precaution to keep her warm by placing her in the back of the squad care.

In the meantime, several of the cruisers had gone for breakfast at local cafes and some were passing time in the Cushing Regional Hospital Foyer.  The dietary staff appeared with warm muffins for the travelers to help them pass the time.

This truly reflects the “You expect something special in Cushing.”  Special assistance like this could only happen in Cushing!
