(Cushing, Okla.)   Cushing Public Schools is proud to announce that Rusty Morgan has been
selected as Cushing High School’s head football coach.

 

“Coach Morgan has a great passion for CHS Football. Going back to his days as a CHS
athlete, Coach Morgan has always been a great competitor and a class act. I know he will be
a tremendous role model for our student athletes and will always represent Cushing with
integrity and pride.” – Barry Patterson, Athletic Director

 

Coach Morgan is a 2004 graduate of Cushing High School. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Pittsburg State University where he was also a member of and a graduate assistant football coach for their NCAA Division II football team. Coach Morgan has also served as linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas. Coach Morgan returned to Cushing in 2013 and has served as a member of the CHS Varsity Football coaching staff and has taught Eastern Hemisphere Geography and Communications at Cushing Middle School.

 

“My family and I are very excited to begin this chapter of our lives. Being from Cushing, I
understand that there are good, hard-working families in this community. Along with that,
the current administration, faculty, and coaching staff are second to none. I want to thank
everyone who had a hand in this process and extend a special thank you to Mr. Knight, Mr.
Lauerman, Coach Shupe, and Mr. Patterson for allowing my family to come back to Cushing
five years ago. Being a head coach is something that I have always wanted to do, and having
the opportunity to do it at a place that means so much to me and my family is a dream come
true. There is a high standard of football and academics in Cushing and I will certainly do all I

Coach Morgan’s wife Lindsay teaches first grade at Cushing Lower Elementary. They have two daughters
Brynlee Rae (3) and Hadley Jo (1).
