(Stillwater) — An inmate in Cushing’s private prison was charged today with assault and battery on a guard at the Cimarron Correctional Facility.
    Christopher A. Cardwell, 23, who is 6’5″ and weighs 200 pounds, is alleged to have struck Correctional Officer Craig Sharp in the face numerous times with his fists on May 29.
    If convicted, Cardwell could be given as much as five more years in prison, according to the felony charge filed by Payne County Assistant District Attorney Kathy Thomas.
    Cardwell is currently serving two concurrent five-year prison terms on an Oklahoma County conviction for two counts of possession of a taken credit card after a former felony conviction, state Department of Corrections records show.
    He has been incarcerated at Cimarron Correctional Facility since November of 2007 and had been slated to be considered for parole in January, DOC records show.
