(Cushing, Okla.) On December 16, 2014 at 10:45 p.m. Cushing Police Officers Ofc. Johnathan Hall and Sgt. Carson Watts were advised of a stolen vehicle out of Drumright and a possible suspect of James Fowler.
During a canvass of Cushing, Ofc. Hall located the vehicle belonging to Koby Oil at the Cin City Bar, 711 N. Steele Ave. Ofc. Hall immediately noticed that the vehicle’s logos had been spray-painted over in attempts to conceal its identity. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, officers observed a large hole in the passenger side of the windshield.
Ofc. Hall, Sgt. Watts, and Payne County Deputy Bobby Miller, later contacted Fowler inside the bar. During questioning of Fowler, he denied having any knowledge of the stolen vehicle or how it became parked in the bar parking lot. During further questioning, Fowler stated that Drumright resident, David Willis, provided him with $20, a pair of boots, a shirt and allowed him to borrow the truck.
Ofc. Hall then spoke to Lara Hubbard. Hubbard advised that while at Cin City, Fowler gave her the keys to the truck and told her it belonged to him. Hubbard advised that she then drove Fowler to the Broken J Bar north of Cushing, where they stayed approx. 30 minutes before returning to Cin City.
Based on the information gathered during the investigation, Sgt. Watts placed Fowler under arrest and transported him to the Cushing Jail, where he was booked-in. During the book-in process, Sgt. Watts seized a small blue plastic baggy, which contained a clear crystallized substance, which later tested positive for Methamphetamine.
James LeRoy Fowler, W/M, 33, is currently being held on complaints of possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of Methamphetamine. Fowler will remain in the Cushing Jail until he is transport to Payne County later today.
“This is another good example of agencies working together for the greater good of all involved, and as a result, bringing quick resolution to this case”, Chief Tully Folden said.
