On December 8, 2014 just after 6:00 p.m. Cushing Police Officers Rachel Hentges and Sgt. Adam Harp responded to an armed robbery call that had just occurred at the Maveric Mini Mart, 224 E. Cherry Street.

Through assistance from the store clerk and store surveillance video, Officer Hentges was able to provide detailed description of suspect to other officers in the area. Based on the given suspect description, officers contacted numerous individuals in the area, including 22 year old Cushing resident Sean Christopher Hartshorn, who was seen leaving the area. During the contact with Hartshorn, MPO Matt Piatt gathered Hartshorn’s information and released him.

Sgt. Harp was later able to locate additional video footage of a male subject believed to be the suspect in the north alley of the 100 block of east Broadway. During the canvass of the area, MPO Piatt and Sgt. Harp located the jacket, hoodie and knife, which was believed to belong to the suspect.

After closer view of the video it was believed that Hartshorn was involved in the robbery. Sgt. Harp and MPO Piatt then attempted contact Hartshorn at the address he provided during the earlier contact. Upon arrival in the 1100 block of east 5th street, MPO Piatt observed Hartshorn walking southbound across the roadway.

Upon contact with Hartshorn, Sgt. Harp questioned him about his involvement in the Maveric Mini Mart robbery. Hartshorn initially denied any involvement, but later admitted to robbing the store. Hartshorn later provided Sgt. Harp with the location of the money he had stolen, which was then recovered.

Hartshorn was arrested and later transported to the Cushing Police Department, where he will be held on a complaint of Robbery with a Weapon. Hartshorn is expected to be transported to the Payne County Sheriff’s Department tomorrow.

“I would like to commend the teamwork displayed by Sgt. Harp, Ofc. Hentges and MPO Piatt, which led to the quick identification and arrest of Hartshorn”, Chief Tully Folden said.
