This morning, Cushing police are continuing their investigation into a Tuesday night theft at Atwood’s, 2004 E. Main Street. Some unknown person cut a fence and entered a gated area behind the store and stole a Toro lawn tractor. In addition, police learned of a trailer theft yesterday afternoon that is possibly connected to the Atwood’s investigation.
Yesterday and this morning, Cushing police have continued working with businesses in the immediate area in an attempt to capture the Atwood’s theft on video. Pictures have been obtained of a white or light colored Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon pulling a trailer just after 11:00 p.m. near the rear of the store. This same vehicle is also captured on surveillance video adjacent to the area in which the lawn tractor was stolen.
Yesterday, Cushing police were able to determine that the trailer possibly used in this theft was stolen from a house near the intersection of 5th and Harrison Streets. The trailer is described as a single axle 14′ Starlight flatbed trailer with 2′ gray metal grate style sides.
Cushing Deputy Chief Tully Folden said, “We have developed some very favorable information thus far. We are confident there is someone out there with information about these two crimes. Our citizens have always been our best asset so we are hopefully someone will come forward with information that will help us solve both crimes.”
The investigation is ongoing this morning, and is being conducted by Sgt. Jack Ford. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at (918) 225-1212.
