Cushing – On Wednesday, May 13th at 9 a.m., the Cushing Police Department in cooperation with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting a methamphetamine drug awareness program in the community room at Spirit Bank located at 300 N. Harrison Street, Cushing.

According to Cushing Police Chief Terry Brannon there has been an increase in methamphetamine manufacturing and the public should be made aware of signs of such possible activity.

“I’m pleased that the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department has partnered with us to bring their retail drug awareness program to Cushing,” Chief Brannon said.  “This is an excellent opportunity for members of our retail community, among others, to come and learn more about methamphetamine manufacturing.  Since we are seeing a significant resurgence of clandestine methamphetamine labs, it is imperative that retail owners, landlords, etc., arm themselves with information so they will recognize the signs of methamphetamine manufacturing.”  He went on to say that many of the ingredients used can be found at retail stores through out the community.

Chief Brannon said he would like to encourage members of the retail community, apartment managers, landlords, motel operators, or any citizen wanting to learn more about illicit methamphetamine manufacturing, to attend this awareness seminar.

If you have questions about the awareness program, contact Chief Terry Brannon at 918-225-1212, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
