(Cushing, Okla.)  Each year the Cushing Masonic Lodge allocates funds to use as matching funds for various charitable organizations in the community.

There are some stipulations that go with the funds: 1.The Masons must be a sponsor and work on the project 2. The charity that they are assisting must match their funds up to 100%.

The Cushing Masonic Lodge has been a true friend of Cushing Regional Hospital dating back to 1929.  For 99 years, the hospital was the Masonic Hospital Association of Payne County.  It operated successfully for 99 years.  In 1987, requirements made it virtually impossible to be operated by a businessman.  Specialty management was necessary in order to meet the mandates of the federal government.

At the beginning of the construction and renovation of the Hospital in 2004, the Masons worked with the Foundation to provide over $25,000 toward the $750,000 pledge.  Beginning in 2008, they have worked yearly with the Charity Golf Event.  Each year a representative of the lodge has assisted with the organization of the tournament, and on the day of the tournament, many of the Masons help with registration, parking, and taking care of beginning details.  Each year they have pledged $2500 with the Foundation matching that amount.  At the end of 2009, they provided additional funds that were available from the Masonic Charity Foundation.  Knowing that funds were available for matching, the Masonic Lodge applied for the funds and received an additional $3000.

In the spring of 2011, the Masonic Lodge pledged and donated $2500 toward the Charity Golf Event.  Currently, they have a remainder of $1160.25 in their fund available for donation. The Charity Golf Event has qualified for this donation.

“We are very thankful that the Cushing Masonic Lodge is available for to partner with the Foundation in this project,” CRH Foundation Director Marian Gilkerson said.  “Their help is needed to complete this project.  They are true friends of the Foundation and the community.”
