(Stillwater, Okla.) – A Cushing man was arraigned from the Payne County Jail Monday on charges of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park at Luella and Oak, maintaining a house where drugs are kept, and possessing drug paraphernalia described as digital scales and baggies, all on Nov. 12.

James Emil Butler, 51, remained jailed this morning in lieu of $5,000 bail in the case investigated by Cushing Police Chief Tully Folden, a sheriff’s spokesman told KUSH.

If convicted of possessing the drug with intent to distribute near a park, Butler could be sentenced to 10 years to life in prison and fined $200,000.

If convicted of maintaining a house where cocaine was kept, Butler could be given as much as a five-year prison term and a $10,000 fine.

If convicted of the additional count of drug paraphernalia possession, Butler could be given a one-year jail term and a $1,000 fine.

Butler has been ordered to appear in court on Thursday with an attorney on the three-count charge.
