(Cushing, Okla.) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a collision occurred at 6:10 (p.m.) on January 26th (2015). The location of the accident was on State Highway 33, 0.7 miles west of Kings Highway (near Cushing) Payne County.
According to the OHP report, Kevin Tyler McBrayer (18) of Cushing was driving a 1991 Chevrolet truck eastbound on State Highway 33 at a high rate of speed when the truck he was driving departed the roadway to the right striking a culvert, going airborne 101 feet before striking a ditch then bouncing up striking a tree. The truck bed separated from the vehicle cab and the truck continued on eastbound, rolling over and coming to rest on its top. McBrayer was pinned for about 30 minutes prior to being freed by Cushing Fire Department.McBrayer was transported by Air Evac to St Johns (Tulsa) where he was admitted in critical condition with trunk internal, leg and head injuries.
The OHP report shows that seat-belts were not in use, and the cause of the collision was unsafe speed, due to age.
