(Stillwater, Okla.) – A Cushing man who admitted having a shotgun while he was on probation for possessing marijuana in Cushing has a plea agreement with the prosecution for a three-year prison term followed by three years of probation, court records show today.

Kylor Grant Ledgerwood, 22, pleaded guilty last week to his gun charge for which he has been scheduled to be sentenced on May 16 by Associate District Judge Stephen Kistler, court records show. Ledgerwood remains in the Payne County Jail.

Ledgerwood was arrested by Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris McKosato following a traffic stop for defective equipment at Main Street and Michigan Street in Cushing about 3 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2017, court records show.

“I informed Ledgerwood the tag was improperly displayed and belonged to another vehicle,” the deputy wrote in his affidavit.

“Ledgerwood immediately stated he took the tag from his sister’s Honda vehicle because the tag on the SUV was out of date,” the affidavit said.

“I asked Ledgerwood who the SUV belonged to and he stated his brother traded a Chevy Tahoe to a guy out of the city of Pawnee,” the deputy alleged in his affidavit.

“Given the circumstances of the vehicle displaying a tag from another vehicle and the vehicle not being registered to either Ledgerwood or his brother, I wasn’t sure if the vehicle was stolen,” the deputy wrote in his affidavit.

After learning that his license had been revoked, “I advised Ledgerwood he was now under arrest for driving with his license revoked,” the deputy wrote in his affidavit.

During an inventory of the SUV, the deputy found under the back seat a Mossberg 12 gauge pump shotgun that was shell-chambered, with five more in the storage tube, the affidavit said.

“I advised Ledgerwood of the shotgun and he stated it belonged to his brother and did not have knowledge it was in the vehicle.

“Ledgerwood stated his brother also drove the vehicle and left the gun in there.

“Ledgerwood stated if he knew the gun was in the car, he wouldn’t have been driving it.

“I advised Ledgerwood he was being charged with felon in possession of a firearm,” the deputy wrote in his affidavit.

According to state Department of Corrections’ records, Ledgerwood is on probation for possessing marijuana in Cushing in 2014, entering with intent to steal copper in Pawnee County in 2016, and possessing a drug in Lincoln County in 2016.
