(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Cushing pick-up truck driver has been ordered to appear in court on Aug. 20 on a negligent homicide charge in connection with a collision that killed a motorcyclist near Ripley ten months ago.
Robert Daniel Massey, 20, who was 19 at the time of the Oct. 3, 2013, crash that resulted in the death of Paul Scott Conklin, could receive a one-year jail term and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor charge filed July 23.
Massey was driving a 1999 Ford F-250 pick-up truck on 68th Street near West Point Road when it collided head on at high speed with Conklin’s motorcycle, according to the charge.
Massey was alleged to have been in reckless disregard for the safety of others “by cutting to the inside of a curve and driving westbound in the eastbound lane of traffic” — colliding with a Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Conklin.
