(Stillwater, Okla.) – A 22-year-old Cushing man was arraigned Thursday on a charge of using a knife to rob a clerk at the Maveric Mini Mart convenience store on E. Cherry Street of $120 and a pack of cigarettes at about 6 p.m. on Monday, court records showed today.

Sean Christopher Hartshorn was arrested by Cushing police on the night of the hold-up and remains in the Payne County Jail on $20,000 bail.

If convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon, Hartshorn could be sentenced to five years to life in prison, court records show.

Through assistance from the store clerk and surveillance video, Cushing Police Officer Rachel Hentges was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect to other officers, according to a police news release.

Officers contacted numerous individuals in the vicinity including Hartshorn, who was seen leaving the area, the news release said. Cushing Police Sgt. Adam Harp “was later able to locate additional video footage of a male subject believed to be the suspect in the north alley of the 100 block of E. Broadway,” the news release said. Sgt. Harp and Officer Matt Piatt located the jacket, hoodie and knife believed to belong to the suspect, the news release said.

“After closer view of the video, it was believed that Hartshorn was involved in the robbery, the news release said.

Contacted in the 1100 block of E. 5th Street, Harshorn initially denied any involvement, but later admitted the robbery, the news release alleged.

“Hartshorn later provided Sgt. Harp with the location of the money he had stolen, which was then recovered,” the news release alleged.
