(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 22-year-old Cushing man was arraigned by video Wednesday from the Payne County Jail on a felony charge alleging that he stole a relative’s vehicle in Glencoe on the 4th of July.

Sage Christopher Brown was arrested by Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Bobby Miller on July 5 at his apartment on Quail Creek Drive, where the car was found by another relative, court records show.

Brown remains jailed on $10,000 bail pending a court appearance with an attorney on July 16.

“Witnesses put Sage driving the vehicle on the night of July 4,” the deputy alleged in an affidavit.

The stolen car had a license tag on it that had been stolen from another relative’s pickup, the affidavit alleged.

A key to the stolen car had been in Brown’s relative’s residence where a window was found broken, the affidavit alleged.

The car key had been in a drawer where jewelry in a blue bag was also missing, the affidavit alleged.

“Witnesses state Sage gave his girlfriend jewelry on July 4 that was possibly part of the jewelry that was in the blue bag,” the affidavit alleged.

“It was later learned that in Sage’s apartment was an odd-looking key,” to a safe in a relative’s residence, the affidavit alleged.

“The safe was checked and it was determined to be missing several handguns. A witness states that on the night of July 4, 2020, Sage was seen with at least three firearms,” the affidavit alleged.

“Sage stole the vehicle…In an attempt to hide the fact the vehicle was stolen, Sage stole another tag from a different vehicle and affixed it to the stolen vehicle. Sage broke into (a relative’s) residence by evidence of having the key to the stolen vehicle and the key to the safe, which was missing several firearms,” the affidavit alleged.
