Cushing Lions Club has been privileged to have very informative programs recently at their noon meetings.
‘THE RIGHT PATH’ RIDING ACADEMY founder and physical therapist, Leslie Kirkland, RPT, told the Lions group about success stories from several of the young people who participate in this therapeutic horseback riding program. Started 14 years ago, ‘THE RIGHT PATH’ Riding Academy has helped riders with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, speech impairments, multiple sclerosis, rhett syndrome, autism and other developmental disabilities.
Using certified instructors and trained, dedicated volunteers, individualized programs for each rider are developed. Each horse/rider ‘team’ has a leader and a minimum of one volunteer attending to the safety needs of the child during the riding lesson. Weekly lessons are provided and offered in three 10 week classes, year-round.
Located on Old Shamrock Hwy near Drumright, ‘THE RIGHT PATH’ Riding Academy is a non-profit organization implementing proven scientific and anecdotal physical therapy to improve physical limitations of children and young people.
A recent lunch program for Cushing Lion’s Club had RANDY DUBOIS, CEO of CUSHING REGIONAL HOSPITAL discuss recent hospital building changes, improvements and future plans for the hospital. The meeting was held in the hospital community room and lunch was provided by their excellent restaurant staff.
Several Cushing area guests of Lions are considering membership into the club. Won’t you? For more information, call Tom Cummings, 918-225-2721, email [email protected], or visit our website at www.cushinglionsclub.com.
