The State Lions Clubs Mobile Health Unit arrived early to the Cushing Festival in the Park and was the scene of over 300 tests to 40 or so patients – all for FREE – on Saturday at Memorial Park.

Comments of ‘Are you sure its all for free?’, ‘Let me go get my grandchildren – they need their eyes checked’ and ‘I’m on a pension and can’t afford much – this is the best thing to happen to me in a long time’ were heard by Cushing Lions Club members who manned the unit.

Thanks to Drumright’s Central Tech awarded Health Services Department personnel, patients from 3 years old to 93 years old had testing done on Visual Acuity, Glaucoma, Bone Density (Osteoporosis), Cholesterol, Blood Sugar (Diabetes), Pulmonary/Lung Functioning, Blood Pressure and Pulse Rate.

One grateful woman told a Lions’ Member, “Look, this is a wonderful thing you all are doing here.  I just found out that I need to see my doctor because of my bones and I didn’t even know I had a problem!”

Cushing Lions Club members are grateful to be involved in such worthwhile projects.
