Retired from a local pipeline corporation, Randy Brown has found a true calling as Chairman of Love INC of Greater Cushing.
Brown’s program on Tuesday to the Cushing Lion’s Club was a testament to his passion for helping others. The Love INC organization carries the same passion with their desire to continue to offer support for those in the area who need it the most.
‘There are about 12 churches actively funding our ministries, with 27 or so sending people in need to us.’ According to Love INC. brochures, ‘The mission of Love In the Name of Christ is to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ.’ Not only does Love INC. offer food and help with the necessities of life, they also offer cooking classes and for their clients and local citizens, the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace course.
When asked why more citizens were turning to Love INC for help with especially food, Brown responded that the economy hits everyone on all levels. He voiced his concern for children who go hungry and stated that demand for families in need of food is greatest during school breaks, especially over summer.
‘The end of the month comes around, and there’s no money left. That’s where we can often help.’ Brown commented that $5 per family a month in the City of Cushing would help those less fortunate and pay the bills at the organization.
Love INC of Greater Cushing has grown rapidly and is in the process of fund-raising for a new facility in downtown Cushing. Their goal is $100,000 and will go toward space to house the Clearing House and Granny’s Pantry. Donations are accepted and those who wish to shop can do so at their current location of 213 N. Cleveland Ave., downtown Cushing on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm, and on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 pm. Donations are tax deductible.
