(Cushing) Victor Costa, with Gideon’s International, spoke at noon Lions Club today about the service that Gideons provide, and the Word of God and how it works. Being a faith-based endeavor, made up of businessmen, the Gideon’s main service to the public and community is to provide free Bibles and scripture to the public. One hundred percent of the money raised by the Gideons goes towards the purchase and distribution of scripture.
Gideons International is an evangelical Christian organization founded 1899 in Janesville, Wisconsin. According to Victor the makeup consists of roughly 297,000 Gideons, close to 200 countries and nearly 100 different languages with 1,000,000 everyday Gideon Bibles being distributed every five days.
