(Stillwater, Okla.) — An ex-convict was charged today with stealing a Chevrolet tailgate, a two-foot trash can, a five-inch round duct tubing, six partial sheets of plate steel, 30 feet of brass rod, five small fisher regulators, one five-horsepower electric motor, and one 15-horsepower electric motor, all from Drumright-based Keystone Gas Corporation on July 23.
James Arron Parten, 44, of Cushing, who apparently got out of prison about two years ago, was arraigned this afternoon on a grand larceny charge from the Payne County Jail where he was being held on $10,000 bail.
According to state Department of Corrections records, Parten was convicted in 2010 in Payne County of entering with intent to steal copper and embezzlement, for which he was given two concurrent five-year prison terms followed by 10 years of probation.
Parten was also convicted in 2010 in Payne County of passing two or more bogus checks for which he was given 35 months of incarceration, DOC records show. Parten had also been convicted in Creek County of embezzlement in 2009 for which he was placed on five years’ probation, DOC records show.
