The City of Cushing, in conjunction with FEMA and the State of Oklahoma, will offer assistance in re-establishing electric services to residential customers of the Cushing Electric System. Applications for assistance may be picked up at the Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency office (formerly Action, Inc.) at Cleveland & Moses; the Cushing Senior Citizens Center; and City Hall.
Under the assistance program up to $500 will be provided to licensed electrical contractors for repair and replacement of meter boxes and risers that have been damaged by the recent ice storm. The program will be available to owner occupants of single family residences, where the income of the household is no greater than 50% of the County’s median household income. Income limits by family size will be included on the application. Reimbursement will not be provided to property owners who have all ready expended funds for repairs. However, property owners are encouraged to keep track of all expenses they have incurred that are related to storm damage in the event FEMA, or other entities, make a further determination to provide individual assistance or reimbursement to property owners who have incurred storm damage expenses.
Applications should be returned to the Economic Development Office at 317 West Broadway. If there are questions regarding the program, please contact Robert Felts, Economic Development Director, at 225-1875.
