(Cushing, Okla.) In a special meeting of Cushing Board of Commissioners Wednesday evening, commissioners voted to authorize the Chairman and Board of Commissioners, to execute a contract for the construction of the new public safety center.
B & B Builders submitted the lowest bid of $4,990,000 which was accepted as the winning bid in a 4 to 1 vote of the commissioners. Carey Seigle cast the lone ‘nay’ vote. The bid includes the omission of east driveway approaches deemed unnecessary due to the way the drive will be constructed. Also included in the approved bid, full bricking of the auxiliary building and the ground face CMU unit price for the common area restrooms.
Cecil Benard, B & B Builders, Shawnee, attended the meeting to answer any questions.
Commissioners also voted unanimously to finance the project internally. The City of Cushing will borrow the funds from the Cushing Municipal Authority for the cost of construction. Rick Smith and Jon Wolff, a Cushing native, from Municipal Finance Service also were in attendance to answer questions regarding internal financing. No loan rates were determined at this time.
A ground breaking ceremony will take place in the near future.
