(Cushing, Okla) Jim Pickard, President of the local Cushing Chapter of Lions Club International, called the meeting to order today at 12:15 p.m. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion and Rev. Kathleen Leithner. This was followed by prayer with Lion Russ Thurman.
Thurman then talked with the group about this year’s fruit sales and thanked all the Lions that showed up at Buck’s warehouse to help unload the fruit. He also thanked Lion Buck for the use of his warehouse.
Teresa Gwinup raised $120.26 through her raffle that she held for the Blanket Box (Bucket of Goodies) in which the proceeds from go to Relay for Life.
Next Lion Lou Griffin asked the club about holding a Christmas Dinner or Christmas Lunch and it was decided by club members that on Tuesday, December 16 (2014) a Christmas Lunch would be held at the Lion’s Den.
Lou then introduced today’s guest Kristin Beasley. Beasley told the club about the latest production she’s involved with called the Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which can be seen on December 12th and 13th at 7 (pm) and December 14th at 2 (pm). Tickets to the production are $5 each and can be purchased at the door of Cushing Community Theatre, 105 East Broadway or at CBEW here in Cushing.
Today’s winner of the 50/50 drawing was Lion Terry Brannon. Brannon was the lucky winner of $13.
The meeting adjourned around 12:50 (p.m.).
Cushing Lions Club meets each Tuesday at noon in the Lion’s Den in downtown Cushing.
