(Cushing, Okla) Jim Pickard, President of the local Lions Club International, called the meeting to order today right around noon. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snider. This was followed by prayer requests for local families along with prayer by Russ Thurman.

 

Lions Club then introduced “Lion Of The Day” Terry Brannon, who introduced today’s guest speaker and head girls Basketball Coach Brian Busby.

Coach Busby grew up in Elk City, Oklahoma and graduated from Elk City High School. He then went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Science and a masters in School Administration. His coaching and teaching career began at Washita Heights High School, in Corn, Oklahoma. He then went on to Shoemaker High School, in Killeen, Texas followed by Porter, Oklahoma where he served as Athletic Director and then on to Miami, Oklahoma, finally finishing up with the move to Cushing in which he felt was a opportunity. Busby has continually strived to help the teams he has coached to advance.

 

Today’s agenda did not include any items of correspondence but did slate the beginning of the 50/50 drawing in which Lion Gerald Jolley was the winner. The 50/50 drawing is a one dollar per ticket drawing where in the total amount collected from sold tickets is split between the winner “and” the Lions Club.

The meeting adjourned around 12:34 (pm).

 

Cushing Lions Club meets each Tuesday at noon in the Lions Den in downtown Cushing.
