(Cushing, Okla) – Longtime Cushing businessman Jim Daves was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to the community during the 2012 Cushing Chamber of Commerce and Industry Annual Banquet Thursday.
Daves was honored for his many years of service since arriving in Cushing 36 years ago. He originally came to Cushing to work for Bray Lines, and later opened his own business American Steel and Weldiing. He has since retired, and the business is now operated by his two sons, Kevin and Wayne.
Daves served several terms as a member of the Cushing City Commission, and has also served many years as a member of The Cushing Regional Hospital Board of Trustees. He also served on the Cushing Industrial Authority.
Other Honorees on Thursday included Beasley Technology for Business of the Year, President’s Special Recognition Award to Cushing Public Schools, and volunteers of the year to incoming Chamber President Toni Vieyra, and Sharon Kerr.
