(Mannford)– The Cushing Tiger basketball team felt the sting of defeat for the first time this season against Victory Christian. The Conquerers broke the game open midway through the third period and went on the win 74-52. Casey Youngman scored 15 for Cushing in the losing effort, while Philip Wilson added 13. Cushing will play Mannford in the third place game Saturday at 5:30.
The Lady Tigers are still looking for their first win after falling to NW Classen on Friday in Mannford. After trailing by as many as ten points, Cushing closed the gap to 1 point at 38-37 but time ran out on Cushing, With only a second remaining, the Lady Knights hit the front end of a 1-1 free throw to make it 39-37 and time expired as Cushing was getting the rebound. The Lady Tigers will play in the 7th place game Saturday morning at 11:00.
