(Oklahoma City) – Cushing’s American Legion Post 108 has been honored as the Oklahoma Post of the year at the American Legion Annual Convention in Oklahoma City.  It is the first time the Cushing Post has been selected for the honor.   Representatives of the post,  Jim Hunter,  Ray Singley and Farrell Kleckner were on hand in Oklahoma City for the announcement Sunday.  Hunter told KUSH the selection is based on community service.   Hunter says that among the many community service projects undertaken by the post are maintaining flags in Downtown Cushing,  putting flags up during Memorial Day,  and giving away flags.   The Post gave away about $10,000 dollars worth of American Flags this past year.  Cushing’s American Legion Post is one of the oldest in the state,  and was chartered in 1919.   The Post celebrated it’s 90th birthday in March.
