(Cleveland, Okla.) – Last week proved to be busy for Cushing runners as they competed in the Tulsa 7 Conference meet and the OSU Jamboree. The Lady Tigers and Jr. High boy’s teams captured conference championships last week at the conference meet hosted by Cleveland High School. The Lady Tigers also placed first in overall competition and the Jr. boy’s placed second. 96 runners competed in the high school girl’s division and 50 in the Jr. High boy’s division. The Lady Tigers course was 2 miles and the Jr. High course was 1 mile.
In conference competition, 92 boys competed in the high school boy’s division. The Tigers were paced by senior Paul Giddeon who placed 7th with a time of 17:29. Joining Giddeon was Parker Ramsey who finished in 17:37, placing 8th, Parker Griffith finished in 18:23, placing 15th, and Dakota Norman finished in 18:46, placing 22nd respectively. The course was 3.1 miles.
In the OSU Jamboree, the Lady Tigers placed 23rd overall, and were led by freshman Ariya Regnier who finished the 2 mile course in 14:05. Also running for the Lady Tigers were Nadia Mooreland who finished in 14:14, Braelyn Berlowitz 14:50, Joannie Adkisson 15:17, and Faith Wallace and Hunter Tankersly both finished in 16:07. 235 girls competed in the jamboree.
The Jr. High boys placed 11th overall, and were led by Evan Kennedy who finished the one mile course in 11:42. Joining Kennedy was Keaton Crooks 11:56, Brandon Anderson 12:44, Kody Driskell 13:02, and Braden Tull 15:05. 175 boys competed in the Jr. boy’s division in the jamboree.
The Tigers were led by Sr. runner Paul Giddeon who finished the 3.1 mile course in 19:10. Other Tiger runners included Parker Ramsey 19:47 and Parker Griffith 21:55. 294 boys competed in the high school boys division.
Said Coach Casie Brannon, “As the season has continued, we continue to get better. They are a great group of kids who are setting themselves and the program up for greater things that are yet to come.” Brannon continued, “We appreciate the parents and Athletic Director Barry Patterson for all of their support. We couldn’t do what we do without them.”
Tiger runners will be back in action this week when they travel to the Luther Cross Country Invitational.
