(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Coyle teenager has been accused of firing a gun from a truck at six people at a rural Yale residence, court records show.

Austin James Derousha, 19, remains free on $7,000 cash bond pending a Sept. 13 court appearance on a charge of using a vehicle to facilitate intentional discharge of a firearm.

If convicted, Derousha could be given a prison term from two years to life and a fine of $10,000, according to the charge filed in Payne County District Court last week.

Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Bobby Miller had been sent at 2:26 pm on Aug. 1 to a rural Yale residence “for a disturbance involving shots being fired,” his affidavit said.

“I learned that a (unnamed male) had arrived at this residence making threats and wanting to speak to a juvenile female,” the deputy alleged in his affidavit.

The male, who was identified in the affidavit only by initials, arrived in a black Chevy El Camino and “was making threats about beating the ass of the juvenile female and shooting everyone else at the residence.

“He was ordered to leave and upon him leaving, he threatened to come back and shoot everyone,” the affidavit alleged.

“Approximately one hour later, a white Chevy truck came driving through the yard and to the area the people were sitting at. The truck was described as driving crazy and several people thought the truck would hit them.

“Due to the threats made earlier, several of the people at the residence were armed. The people outside, six total, advised they witnessed the passenger to be (the male identified by initials) and the driver was a larger white male, later identified as Austin Derousha.

“The people at the residence ordered them to leave the property. The owner of the property was so scared that she went into the residence and took several juveniles to the basement part of the home,” the affidavit alleged.

After the pair made several statements to the people, “Derousha then started to back out of the yard and became struck in a ditch. The people at the residence called 911.

“Derousha was able to get his truck unstuck and he drove back onto the road. All six victims advised that as the truck was driving west, the driver pointed a pistol towards them and fired one shot.

“One person at the residence fired two or three shots into the air to scare them off,” the affidavit alleged.

After Derousha’s truck was located in Stillwater, Derousha was arrested at 3:39 pm on Aug. 1 at 12th and Perkins Road, the affidavit said.

“Derousha was the only occupant in the truck when it was stopped. Derousha first denied being anywhere in the area of the incident and clamed he was just driving home.

“He later changed his story and stated he did go to the property, but just to talk. He admitted he was mad when he pulled into the yard and probably pulled in too fast.

“A photo of Derousha was shown to the six victims and all six advised he was the driver of the truck and the one who fired a shot at them,” the affidavit alleged.
