(Stillwater) – There were plenty of plots and sub-plots for the Oklahoma State Cowboys Basketball team. The season opener for a new head coach with a new style of basketball. First game on Eddie Sutton court without a Sutton seated on the bench.

A former Sutton player and assistant bringing what is believed to be his best team to Stillwater for a showdown.

Although it’s way to early to predict how good Oklahoma State is going to be this season, new Coach Travis Ford got what he and his team wanted most in the first regular season game….a win.

Oklahoma State used a pair of second half runs to pull away from the University of Texas-San Antonio and record the first win of the Travis Ford era.

Byron Eaton scored a career high 27 points to lead the Cowboys, including five straight points down the stretch to slam the door on the Roadrunners, coached by former Cowboy, Brooks Thompson.

OSU led by only six at halftime, 31-25, but outscored UTSA 45-32 in the second half, highlighted by a 12-0 run early in the second half that put the Pokes in control of the game. Despite a flurry of 3 point buckets, UTSA could never close the gap.

Terrel Harris finished the night with 20 points for the Cowboys, who host North Texas on November 17.
