(Drumright, Okla.) – Country band LiveWire’s latest Way Out West Records’ single “Whiskey Sunday” continues to gain traction at radio, while the video for the song is being embraced by broadcasters and retail outlets across the country.
At radio, “Whiskey Sunday” is climbing the Texas Music, Texas Regional Radio Report and MusicRow charts.
The video for “Whiskey Sunday” received a major push this week when it was added to playlists at hundreds of retail stores, restaurants, clubs and bowling alleys across the U.S. Since it first debuted on CMT.com, the video co-directed by Flick Wiltshire and Amanda Young has been picked up by GACTV.com, Yallwire, The Nashville Network and other Internet and broadcast outlets. Watch it here on VEVO: Whiskey Sunday
“Whiskey Sunday” was written by Joe Romano and Jason Vanover, and is one of only four songs on LiveWire’s current album LIVIN’ that was written outside of the band. The song was pitched to the group by Sherrill Blackman, one of Music Row’s most successful song pluggers.
“Between me and our rhythm guitarist Danny Bell, we write most of the material that LiveWire records,” states Andy Eutsler, the lead singer of the band. “But when Clif, our manager, brought this song to us, we knew that we wanted to cut it within the first few seconds of listening to it. It fits us really well and our fans love it. We polled them on Facebook when were ending the promotion of our last single ‘Lies’ – and ‘Whiskey Sunday’ was the overwhelming favorite as our next release.”
Recording “Whiskey Sunday” was indeed a wise move for the independent band. Respected music critic Robert K. Oermann said the song was “Heartache, performed with a lively tempo, vocal harmonies and a catchy tune.” While three previous singles had done a good job of introducing the band, both in the U.S. and Europe, “Whiskey Sunday,” produced by Justin Woods, has helped LiveWire to grow a stronger following among die-hard Country fans.
Eutsler continues: “People ask us a lot, what do you call your style of Country music? Well, the answer is, we don’t really put labels on what we do. Some call it Country Rock, some refer to it as Traditional Country and others call it Red Dirt. We cut our musical teeth in bars, playing whatever people wanted to hear. So our music is influenced by every artist that we ever covered, from George Jones and Merle Haggard to Restless Heart and Lynyrd Skynyrd. We just call it ‘LiveWire music.’ We don’t care what labels people want to put on it, we are just happy that they like it!”
LiveWire’s growing concert schedule at clubs, casinos and festivals is attracting a larger fan base to the Joplin, Mo., based act. The band recently opened shows for Kyle Park, Roy Clark, The Lacs and the Marshall Tucker Band. LiveWire’s 2014 concert schedule is off to a strong start with dates opening for Mark Chesnutt, Doug Stone and more headlining shows of their own.
In addition to Eutsler and Bell, LiveWire also features the talents of Bobby DeGonia (lead guitar/harmony vocals), Cory Shultz (fiddle/harmony vocals), Brad Allen (drums) and Scott Kwapiszeski (steel).
