(Stillwater, Okla.) – A convicted murderer escaped from the Payne County Jail Thursday night — the day after he was arraigned on a charge of punching a Cushing prison guard in the face on May 1, court records show.
Patrick Marteaz Walker, 34, was serving a life prison sentence in the Cimarron Correctional Facility in Cushing for first-degree murder in 2001 in Oklahoma County, court records show.
Walker was described in a state Department of Corrections news release Friday as black, 5’7”, about 174 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a large scar paralleling his jawline on the left side of his face.
The Payne County Sheriff’s Office reported to DOC on Friday that Walker had escaped from the jail by posing as a cellmate and posting bond for that inmate whom he closely resembled, the news release said.
Walker “is believed to have that inmate’s personal identification information with him and may be going by the individual’s name, Charles Pendarvis,” the news release said.
Walker, who has also been known as “Notty Walker,” was being held in the Payne County Jail for arraignment on his felony charge of assault and battery on a Cushing prison guard.
Walker was formally charged Friday with escape from the Payne County Jail on Thursday, court records show.
Walker was described by DOC as “considered armed and extremely dangerous.” Anyone who believes they have seen Walker should call 911 immediately and not approach him, the DOC news release said.
Anyone with information about Walker’s whereabouts is asked to call DOC’s fugitive hotline at 866-363-1119 or email [email protected]. All calls and emails are confidential, DOC emphasized.
According to DOC records, Walker was convicted of first-degree murder in Oklahoma County in 2003 when he was also given four concurrent 10-year prison terms for drug possession with intent to distribute, being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of assault and/or battery with a dangerous weapon.
