(Cushing, Okla.) The City of Cushing is getting out of the apartment rental business. After much discussion, commissioners voted to authorize the city manager to solicit proposals for the renovation and sale of Fountain Bleau Apartments. The city will be issuing a one-year notice to tenants of Fountaine Bleau in the near future.
Other items at Monday night’s regular city commissioner meeting included the approval of the purchase of a new John Deere front mower for the Parks Department. City manager Steve Spears said the existing mower needs to be replaced since it already has over 2500 hours on it and the deck is in “terrible shape.” According to Spears, they already upped the hours from 1500 to 2500 to get as much as they could from the equipment. The council approved the purchase for the amount of $17,200 from Grissom. LLC.
Commissioners also approved physicals for Cushing firefighters. The Cushing Fire Department recently received a
Chairman of the Board (aka Mayor) Evert Rossiter also made a presentation to Cushing Electric Superintendent Mike Harris from Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma, Inc (MESO). MESO awarded Harris a Certification in Electric Distribution Supervision on June 22, 2010. The certification is in recognition of his completion of four years of professional development studies while performing normal electric line distribution duties. The studies included 200 hours of classroom training in municipal utility supervision skills, 100 hours of
MESO is the statewide trade association of public power systems in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas. MESO provides power supply, engineering assistance, energy management assistance, training and mutual aid programs for its member municipalities.
